Our Mission & Who We Are

As a nonprofit organization based in Arizona, we serve as a resource for educational and cultural enrichment, as well as health and government services locally to the Pacific Islander Community.

For over five years, Island Liaison, Inc. has served Pacific Islanders with a focus on people from the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau collectively known as the Freely Associated States (FAS). The FAS islanders living in Arizona are here in the U.S. under an Agreement of Compact of Free Association (COFA) which allows them to reside and work in the U.S. and are lawful present qualified non-citizens. These Islanders are not eligible for many federal or state services and Island Liaison links them with locally available health and human services programs and educational opportunities.

As of December 2020, Congress restored Medicaid (Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System) eligibility to the COFA Agreement.
